From Insights to Ideas: Sketches & Scenarios

With our persona and problem clearly defined, we ran a series of sketching sessions.

We focused on:

  • Reducing friction: How can Ashley get what she needs in under 10 seconds?

  • Visual hierarchy: What info matters right now?

  • Emotional tone: How can the interface feel supportive, not noisy?

Our early sketches featured:

  • A "Today at a Glance" card

  • Actionable reminders

  • A calm, whitespace-rich layout

Wireframes to Prototypes: Testing Simplicity

I created hi-fidelity wireframes in Figma and validated the information flow through rapid feedback sessions. Each screen was mapped to a specific need Ashley voiced:

“I just want to know what’s coming up today”

Home overview card

“I forget forms that need to be signed, unless I get reminded, more than once”

Time-sensitive reminder system

After iterating, I built an interactive prototype and conducted 3 moderated usability tests.

Testing insights:

  • The clean design helped reduce cognitive overload

  • Users expected alerts and reminders to be grouped, not scattered.

  • They wanted personalization (e.g., see only their own child's info).

These findings directly shaped our final iteration.

Where We Landed

Our final prototype featured a calm, structured home screen that prioritizes the most urgent items.

  • A unified dashboard showing the day’s key info, where each member of the family has a unique color.

  • A Notification center for permission slips, class events and conflicts in children’s schedules.

  • Sync with calendar and email to reduce app-switching.

Reflections

PASS.ai was more than a design sprint.

It was a lesson in designing for emotion, under stress, and with empathy.

Every step we took was a response to real parent pain points, and every decision was backed by user voices.

This project reaffirmed my belief in simple, focused design that meets users where they are—especially when life is loud.
